Tongue-Tie

What is it?

A congenital condition that restricts the tongue's function and/or range of motion. An unusually short, thick or tight band of tissue (lingual frenulum) tethers the tongue to the floor of the mouth.

Myofunctional Therapy

What is it?

Myofunctional therapy is like physiotherapy for the tongue, face and mouth muscles. The goals of therapy are: Nasal Breathing, Lip Seal, Correct Tongue Posture, and Correct Swallowing Pattern.

We work with nearly all ages, starting as young as 2-3 years old in some cases.

Dr. Bouwmeester uses a CO2 Laser to optimize the surgery and minimize: pain, bleeding, inflammation and healing time. Local anesthetic is used for this procedure.
